The Opera and + program brings music and opera to families and children hospitalized in the Hospital de Cruces in Vizcaya. It is funded by the Repsol Foundation and conducted by ABAO.
During the first year of activity, this program has brought the opera to nephrology, pediatrics and neonatology patients at the Hospital de Cruces (Vizcaya, Spain). With a program of activities adapted for young and old, reaching 1,495 people.
In the pediatric ward they have developed music classes for younger children, who were able to play different instruments and learn some operatic librettos. Dialysis patients have been offered with briefings on opera, inviting them to attend rehearsals of the plays performed at the Euskalduna in Bilbao. In addition, the neonatology unit has enjoyed the participation of Aitxiber, professional mezzosoprano, who has shared their songs once a week with parents and babies admitted.
